Another wee 'upper'

Went to the dentist this morning and bought a paper before going in (seen me waiting best part of an hour in there before). When I went in (after 20 mins or so) the dentist asked me how I was feeling.

"Actually, I'm feelin kinda good".

"Yes, I could tell by the way you were sitting outside" (apparently ive always been 'twitchy' before).

And she actually said I'm looking the best she's ever seen me. There was slightly more said but that's the meat of it.

But I mean... for the bloody *dentist* to be able to say that about me? What kind of state have I been in these last years? On my last visit (some months ago) I asked her about replacement bridgework and work on my back teeth. She just shrugged.

This morning it was "well Thomas, you're a new man and lets get you in for an hr and I'll do the back stuff for you. Then we can get around to the front (which arent too bad now after my new cap this morning) over the next 6mths.

What a difference... from an uncaring 'shrug' to actually wanting to help me get my teeth back into order. Thats something else to come from all this... I would do (brush) them occasionally but was either too stoned to bother or care most of the time... I've started looking after them again the last few weeks.

What a cracking start to the day... a pain free cap so my front teeth look good and I'm actually gonna get the treatment I wanted but wasnt capable of receiving previously. She just didnt have me down as 'bothering' about.

Well not now she doesnt :-)

/me smiles at even the dentist noticing and changing her attitude accordingly... life is sweet for Tam.

Right... ho hi and all that, I'm off to work.

Very cool, I know I've been avoiding the dentist myself, finally paid off my wife's bill, so maybe, . . .

Anyway, taking care of yourself is important, good read!

Thomas Inglis made this comment,
Yeah man, get those teeth sorted... you dont get another set so once theyre gone theyre gone.

I'm a little bit lucky as they just assume your unemployed down there and its all 'taken care' of for you financially. My bridge work was around £400 when I got it initally about 12 or 13 years ago so must be the neck end of a grand these days so small fortune for Tam saved there ;-)

Glad you've enjoyed the read Kev. At the very least I'm going to have this blog published as a webpage at http://tamsbigfight.com which will be a general drugs help website I intend to administer as a 'pet project' and sponsored by my boss Simon (i.e. hosting and help on the site itself).

We'll have a forum and chat and other things that are applicable on there... I wanna help those that dont/havent had the help resources available that I have and if it helps even a single person to either avoid or come off the bad stuff then the work to 'make it happen' will be all worthwhile.

We'll come up with a more appropriate domain name for it at the time... "stoppingdrugs.com" is apparently available.

But yeah, get your own teeth done before its too late and they need to come out as opposed to 'fixed'. Good luck.
