Overpass Hell

Damned thats so frustrating... its as if I found an 'overpass' of that motorway I mentioned... i could actually see and think of what i needed to do for the backup.

use crontab to fill/create a dir of tarballed target directories and/or files
setup keys to allow login between the machines
setup an rsync script (single line really) to transfer the contents
make sure that the rsync user/key login had write permissions for the target directory
use crontab again to autotransfer the contents using the autologin created in above step.

But the bloody sliproad eluded me... which is makin me kinda wantin to cry. Literaly. I can see the traffic passing underneath yet cant seem to be able to join in. I know that sounds stupid but its how I feel.

Acht... I'm gonna use a previous example... swimming. I sank on my first length but a week later I'm pumping out 12 without a break. I just need to get into the swing of things again and find ways of doing things afresh. I just know once I get on the motorway/going I'll be fine and will probably start breaking speed limits very quickly... which just makes not being able to even worse.

Back to the main application in the morning and seeing as backups have waited this long they can wait till tomorrow evening when I'm back into my own time and can try again... who knows, programming during the day just might allow my mind to find that sliproad. The machines are well protected/buttoned up so I can (just about) rest with that

Am reasonably comfortable that I'll be ok with the programming as I waded through a few tasks the other day with few problems and managed 6 of the 7 things I had to do (so #7 is on course for first thing tomorrow).

I can really feel this emotion hitting me and it isnt nice so I'm giving up for the evening and going to bed... its 1am so I should be at my desk at a reasonable time... nowhere to travel is a real boon/time saver ;-) Just one room to the other with a trip to the kitchen to make a coffee.

Nite nite.
